sven ski clinic

Following an injury, Sven Ski Clinic gives you immediate access to a UK Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic specialist. This ensures that you get the best in-resort advice. This is followed-up by optimised care back in the UK. All documentation is reviewed and summarised for insurance and continuity of care. Each season there are injuries seen back in the UK that could have been treated better from the outset. There is often initially confusing advice and then a frustrating period in the resort with pain and swelling, waiting for the flight home. Even once you land, the next stage is the struggle to get follow-up clinic appointment with the right specialist. This all changes once the Ski Clinic gets involved.

BENEFITS OF SVEN SKI CLINIC

In the days that follow a trip ending injury you don’t want to be stuck in your chalet not knowing your recovery plan or suffering from a lack of appropriate management.

VIDEO CONSULTATION

All musculoskeletal injuries benefit from optimised management from the very start. The video consultation will be able to ensure that your treatment from the local medical centre has been appropriate. There will be early rehabilitation instructions to follow which will minimise the impact of the trauma.

SECURE MEDICAL DOCUMENTS AND IMAGING UPLOAD

This is essential for continuity of care and booking prompt UK follow-up. The documents can also be used for insurance claims and to allow you plan ahead e.g. official notification for your UK employer of the details of your injury with the potential need for additional time off work.

MOBILISATION AND TRAVEL

You will want to know what you can and can’t do whilst still in the resort. There may be times when a return to the slopes is possible. Travel days are long and painful and there may be a risk of blood-clot formation in deep veins. Medications may be required to minimise pain, and blood clot formation (thrombosis)

OPTIMISED UK MANAGEMENT

You will want an early review when you return to the UK. This can be at your local hospital or clinic and arranged directly following your video consultation. If you want to be seen in the NHS, waiting to see your GP can take time and your subsequent follow-up in the specialist clinic delayed. A detailed letter summarising your injury and management is sent immediately to you and your GP with recommended actions. These can be set in motion before you arrive back in the UK.

PRIVATE IMAGING AND FOLLOW-UP

You can continue to be seen privately. The benefit is that any required specialist imaging, such as an MRI, can be booked for you early. This can often happen directly after your return, ensuring a rapid diagnosis. The faster a diagnosis is made, the faster that the correct management can be provided for you.

PLANNING AHEAD

A timeline on return-to-work can be given to allow you to give them an update and make a realistic plan. This can reduce stress. A bespoke programme for return-to all activities and ultimately back to the slopes needs to begin from the first day of your injury.

Book an appointment to maximise your options and speed up your recovery.
